Section 01

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User" or "you") and PDF Tools Pro ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the PDF Tools Pro application ("App").

Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of these Terms, including any future modifications. We recommend bookmarking this page and checking it periodically for updates.

Note: These Terms apply to the App itself. Your purchase through the Microsoft Store is also subject to Microsoft's own terms and conditions, which are separate from this agreement.

Upon completing your one-time purchase through the Microsoft Store, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to install and use PDF Tools Pro on devices associated with your Microsoft account.

This license covers:

Use of the App for personal or professional PDF processing tasks
All features available in the version you purchased
Any updates to that major version of the App
Offline use after installation

Refunds: Refund requests for purchases made through the Microsoft Store must be submitted to Microsoft directly. We do not process refunds. Microsoft's refund policy permits refund requests within a limited window after purchase.

Section 03

Permitted Use

You may use PDF Tools Pro for any lawful purpose, including personal, academic, and commercial use. Examples include:

✅ Compressing PDFs for email or storage

✅ Converting images you own to PDF

✅ Processing work or client documents

✅ Academic or research use

✅ Removing metadata from your own files

✅ Using on multiple personal devices

✗ Not Allowed

❌ Reselling or sublicensing the App

❌ Reverse engineering the App's code

❌ Redistributing the App outside the Store

❌ Using to process stolen or illegal files

❌ Sharing your license with others

❌ Creating competing products based on our code

❌ Automated or bot-driven processing

Section 04

Prohibited Use

You may not use PDF Tools Pro in connection with any activity that:

Violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
Infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others
Involves processing files obtained without authorization
Is intended to facilitate fraud, identity theft, or other deceptive practices
Circumvents any digital rights management (DRM) protection
Distributes malware, ransomware, or other malicious content via PDFs processed by the App

Your responsibility: You are solely responsible for the files you process and what you do with the output. We have no visibility into your files and therefore cannot monitor usage — but violations of these terms may result in license revocation.

We reserve the right to revoke your license without refund if we become aware of a material violation of these terms, subject to Microsoft Store policies.

Section 05

Disclaimer of Warranties

PDF Tools Pro is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
Warranties that the App will meet your specific requirements
Warranties of uninterrupted, error-free, or bug-free operation
Warranties regarding the accuracy of compression ratios or output quality

In particular, we strongly recommend keeping backups of your original PDF files before processing them. While we take care to build reliable tools, no software is perfect, and file corruption — however unlikely — is possible.

Back up your originals. Always keep a copy of your original files before using any PDF manipulation tool, including ours. This is good practice regardless of the software you use.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, in which case the above exclusions may not apply to you.

Section 06

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PDF Tools Pro and its creators shall not be liable for any:

Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
Loss of data, files, profits, or business opportunities
Damages arising from use or inability to use the App
Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your files (which is architecturally impossible given our design, but we include this for completeness)

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App. Given this is a one-time purchase product, this cap reflects the nature of the transaction.

Section 07

Intellectual Property

PDF Tools Pro, including its design, code, branding, and user interface, is protected by intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

Your files and outputs belong to you. We make no claim over any PDF files you process or any output files you create using the App. Because we never receive your files, we could not make such a claim even if we wanted to.

The open-source libraries used within the App (pdf-lib, PDF.js, JSZip) retain their respective licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0). These libraries are not our property, and their use does not grant you additional rights over the App as a whole.

PDF Tools Pro, the App name, logo, and associated branding are trademarks. You may not use these marks without written permission.

Section 08

Updates & Changes

We reserve the right to:

Update or modify the App to fix bugs, add features, or improve performance
Update these Terms of Service at any time
Discontinue features that are technically infeasible to maintain

When we update these Terms, we will change the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

We will not introduce subscription charges or data collection practices without clear prior notice. Our core commitment — that files are processed locally and never uploaded — is not subject to change without a major version rebrand.

Updates delivered through the Microsoft Store may be automatic. We do not guarantee backward compatibility between major versions.

Section 09

Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your license terminates automatically if you:

Fail to comply with any provision of these Terms
Use the App for prohibited purposes as described above
Attempt to reverse engineer or redistribute the App

You may also terminate by ceasing all use of the App and uninstalling it from your devices.

Upon termination, you must destroy all copies of the App in your possession. Since the App is distributed through the Microsoft Store, uninstalling through Windows handles this automatically.

Section 10

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App should first be raised with us directly via the contact information below.

If you purchased through the Microsoft Store, certain terms of your purchase may also be governed by Microsoft's agreements and applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence.
